What is microchipping?
Microchipping is a tiny chip the size of a grain of rice that is inserted below the skin. We always aim to incert the chip between the shoulder blades to reduce the chances of the chip migrating around the animals body, making scanning even easier. This chip has it's own personal number which is either 10 or 15 digits long. This number is then registered with petlog so that if the animal goes missing anyone with a scanner can scan the microchip, phone petlog and reunite you with your lost pet.
Microchipping gives you peace of mind and is a quick, permanent way of identifying your pet.
What's included?
When your pet is microchipped your pet will have standard registration with petlog, the national database. You can upgrade to the pet log premium service
(Approx size of a microchip is the size of a grain of rice) Quick procedure (most pets do not realise it has been done)
Petlog premium
We recommend that once you get your pet microchipped that you join petlog premium. To join you make a one off payment to petlog and then if your pet goes missing all the petlog premium partners within a 30 mile radius are informed. Once you have upgraded you will not have to pay them if you change address and you can notify them when you go on holiday so that they know where the pet has been if you loose it while you are away.
Microchip scanning
checking your pets chip regularly is important, take your pet for scanning to ensure that the chip it has not migrated. we recommend that you get them scanned once or twice a year so that you have peace of mind that they are fully protected. We offer to scan your dog free of charge to ensure that the microchip is still in the correct position.
